AAPI members will provide guidelines for trauma care, outlining procedures to stabilize an accident victim on site and transport the person to a health centre and assist in identifying equipment for trauma centers.

Dr. Rao said, “Our chance to influence the world has never been greater. We live in a time when, thanks to the Internet and global media, the actions we take in America and the values that we support can reverberate around the world as they never had before. Healthcare is no exception. We know that the best healthcare in the world is right here at home. Our role should be to help disseminate our medical knowledge, our expertise and technological advances to the rest of the world in need and to India in particular.”

Compliments and praises have come from all quarters. The President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have praised the work of AAPI and the first-ever Indo-US Health Summit in New Delhi. While addressing members of AAPI recently, US Senator Robert Menendez said, “You have committed your lives to provide the best patient care possible and I too have committed to ensure to all Americans, irrespective of ethnicity, race or income level, access to the best healthcare possible.”

Indian Ambassador to the US Ronen Sen praised AAPI stating that the organization served as a catalyst in fostering the friendship between the US and India. “It has never been bashful about proudly declaring its Indian roots and identity unlike some other groups that hide behind the Asian label.

“It’s been a privilege for me to be associated with AAPI because I recognize the tremendous role that is being played by AAPI in promoting friendship between India and the United States. I am also glad that AAPI is also unabashedly promoting India in the United States. There are some who try to make their identity a little more vague by calling themselves Asian or whatever — we all are and we are proud to be Asians — but some would like to refer to the Indian subcontinent, call it the Asian subcontinent. Thank God, they don’t call the Indian Ocean just an ocean just because it’s the only ocean named after a country,” he said.

Dr. Ravi Jahagirdar, M.D, Dr. Udita Jahagirdar, M.D., Dr. Sanku S Rao, M.D., AAPI President

Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, India’s Minister for Health, said the role played by AAPI was appreciated by the Government of India and its people. “The AAPI leadership was sincere and committed working with Indian physicians to provide better healthcare to the masses. AAPI did not forget its roots and engaged in several activities such as conducting Indo-US Healthcare Summit in New Delhi that blazed new trail in healthcare sector in India and paved way for new frontiers in public private partnership.”
