Delhi And Bangalore Fashion Weeks Smash Hits

India saw two fashion events in July that had some of the best names in the industry displaying their creations to national and international potential clients.
‘Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week 2010’ was a success. The event also saw Bollywood faces like Neha Dhupia, Mandira Bedi, Tanushree Dutta, and singer Vishal Bhall gracefully walk the ramp.
Considering the festive season from October onwards, the theme and and designs of most of the designers were more of Indian traditional and cultural wear. People even got to see a few peppy, western collections. Fashion designers like Swapnil Shinde, J.J. Valaya, Ramesh Dembla, Soham Chakraborty, Michelle Salins, etc were seen showcasing their designs on the occasion.
Mandira wearing her gorgeous smile said, “ I loved the outfit what Swapnil designed for me, I feel very comfortable. Swapnil is a very good friend and I couldn’t deny his proposal for the show.” Swapnil Shinde chose a theme on Lady Gaga and used black and white colors. He even brought down Mandira Bedi on the ramp wearing a white gown designed with silver and black laces showcasing her as one of the most powerful women in India with her dynamic smile.
Ramesh Dembla’s collections showcased the traditional face of India by putting up designer sarees on the ramp. Sanjeet Anand’s collections had a touch of both western and Indian collections, presenting Tanushree Dutta clad in white saree with diamond jewellery
Neha Dhupia was seen dressed in a copper brown dress, which somewhat looked like the Anarkali chudidar chameez, designed by J.J.Valaya.
JJ Vallaya‘s grand finale had show stopper Neha Dhupia who set the ramp on fire. The main color used in the creations was red; and even the lighting at the ramp was complete red.
Vallaya’s royal collection had elegant stonework. Embedding the modernity and gadget friendly designs, mobile pouches were included in place of routine pockets.
Bollywood stars descend at Manav Gangwani’s show
Bollywood stars made their presence felt at Manav Gangwani’s show at the Pearls Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week(PI-DCW) with Dia Mirza, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemu and Zayad Khan coming in to cheer their designer friend.

This time at the PI-DCW, celebrities seem to be choosing front seats and not the ramp to make their presence felt - making sure that due attention goes to the designer.
Manav’s love for Swarovski elements continued as his collection - ‘An affair to remember’ was loaded with the glittering crystals that took all attention.

Inspired by the movie ‘An Affair to Remember’, this Delhi-based designer’s collection is meant for bold women who love to experiment and are very sensual as well.
‘My brand is meant only for women who are bold and can carry any outfit with panache and confidence. I believe in dressing up like a true princess.’
The line had saris with bejeweled blouses, anarkalis and gowns in various hues of turquoise, fuchsia, metallic greys and beiges that were appealing to the eye.
Modeling was never for me: Anil Kapoor
Anil Kapoor, who walked the ramp like an experienced model for designer Anamika Khanna at the Pearls Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week (PI-DCW), says he discovered 32 years ago that could he never be a model.
“I started my career with modeling. The first time I walked the ramp was for Dhirubhai Ambani for Vimal fabrics. That was the first time and that too 32 years ago. It was at that point that I realized I am not cut out for modeling,” said Anil before the spectacular, star-studded show.
That was also the turning point in Anil’s life.
“It was then that it dawned upon me that I should become an actor,” said the 50-yearold.
Anil was in the capital with his younger daughter Rhea, who has produced Aisha, releasing Aug 6.
His elder daughter Sonam plays title role in Aisha, about an uber chic girl obsessed with matchmaking.
Inspired by Jane Austen’s novel Emma, the film highlights Aisha’s relationship with her friends.
The film has been in the news for the highend wardrobes of the actors, so Anil decided to promote his daughter’s project at the couture week.
He took to the ramp in chic Anamika Khanna ensembles with Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri and model Lisa Haydon who are making their debuts with the movie. For the seasoned actor, walking with the newcomers was an affirmation that Aisha stands not just on Sonam, but on its ensemble cast.
“We are missing Sonam. But I always believe that the show must go on. These girls are equally important for the film. This film is an ensemble and all three of them are being introduced in the film. This is a good platform for them,” he said.

Sonam gave the show a miss as she is busy shooting for Pankaj Kapoor’s Mausam in Scotland. But Rhea chose to cheer for her father and her three actresses from the front row.
The three newcomers were extremely excited about being on the same stage as Anil, but Ira and Amrita were both worried about handling their respective dresses.
