John Edwards to face Federal indictment over alleged campaign law violations

Former NC Senator, vice presidential nominee and two-time Presidential candidate John Edwards was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on six counts, which include conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements. Edwards pleaded not guilty in federal court in North Carolina on June 3, 2011, to charges that he spent more then $925,000 to hide his mistress, Rielle Hunter, and their love child from the public during his 2008 White House campaign. The indictment follows an extensive investigation by the IRS and the FBI for two years.
The Feds are interested in what happened to contributions from political donors, chief among them Edwards' sugar mama, Rachel "Bunny" Mellon, the 100-year-old reclusive banking heiress. Another donor was trial lawyer Fred Baron, who was finance chairman for his 2008 campaign. Prosecutors argue the donations be considered campaign funds since they were for his presidential bid. "There is no question that I've done wrong," Edwards said outside the federal courthouse. "I take full responsibility for having done wrong … But I did not break the law, and I never, ever thought I was breaking the law." What a fall from grace! And that too for chasing a skirt when his loyal wife Elizabeth, who died from cancer last year, was struggling with her illness.
Oscar de la Hoya battling cocaine addiction, infidelity charges

Oscar de la Hoya is in rehab to kick his drug habit.
Details are emerging on why Oscar de la Hoya has entered a treatment facility, say news reports. It began when the boxer started dabbling in cocaine, a dangerous habit that contributed to infidelity in his marriage.
While De la Hoya has reportedly told friends he hasn't hit rock bottom, he has checked himself in to a rehab center in California to take care of the issue before it got worse.
Said the former champion, soon after news of this decision was made public: "After doing an honest evaluation of myself, I recognize that there are certain issues that I need to work on. Like everyone, I have my flaws, and I do not want to be one of those people that is afraid to admit and address those flaws.
"Throughout my career and my life, I have always met all challenges head-on, and this is no different. I am confident that with the support of my family and friends, I will become a stronger, healthier person. "I ask for respect and privacy as my family and I go through this process."
Admitting to your mistakes is the first step towards healing and we are all with you.

American reality star and socialite Kim Kardashian's wedding with her basketball star fiancé Kris Humphries is expected to generate millions in revenue.
TV executives are already planning a show around the wedding and possibly televising the ceremony, reports said. Forbes reporter Mark Pasetsky has already speculated that the wedding photos will sell for at least $2 million for domestic US rights and an additional $1 million to be made in international rights. Talking to People, Kim has divulged what to expect: "I've always dreamed of a big wedding. I'll probably do something really overthe- top.
Super feminine but still really modern, chic and cool, but it has to have a lot of heart, it has to be all about the family." It is still unsure when the wedding ceremony will take place exactly.
In 2010, Kim Kardashian was the highest earning reality star at $6 million, 10% of which was donated to charity. She is currently starring, with her sister Kourtney Kardashian, in the smash-hit reality TV show Kourtney and Kim Take New York.
U2's Bono consoles Maria Shriver

Maria Shriver, whose 25-year marriage to Arnold Schwarzenegger is heading for divorce after the action hero revealed that he fathered a son by household help Mildred Baena, is trying her best to stand tall in the face of Arnold's staggering infidelities. She has also rejected Arnold's going down on his knees act asking for forgiveness. Maria would not hear of it and continues to seek divorce. In the meantime, Maria is being consoled by U2 front man Bono, with whom she has been good friends for several years. Recently the two were spotted having lunch at a posh restaurant in Beverly Hills, Calif. Maria sought out Bono wanting to hear his advice while Bono offered to help Maria overcome the many distraught years of Arnold's deceit. At one point, the rock star held her hand consolingly and patted her on the arm soothingly during a lunchtime gettogether. Maria is believed to have ditched her wedding ring. We wish Maria and her kids the best.
Kanimozhi's plea shot down by Delhi High Court

Kanimozhi by her "oh, I'm a woman" plea has negated all the effort made by women through the millennia to erase the "weaker sex" tag. At a time when women are finally forging their own identities and setting new standards in every field, this cunning statement by the DMK MP whitewashes all what women have attained through the centuries - equal standing in work, pay, education, etc. And rightfully, the Delhi High Court shot down the politician's plea of ‘motherhood.' So what if you are mother and woman?
As for your statement, "treat my bail as a reward for my sex, for my motherhood, and for my clean image. I have not interfered with the evidence nor will do so." Oh really, as a person accused of being a beneficiary of the largest telecom scam in Indian history, do you still think you are clean? As for ‘not tampering with evidence,' why should the Court think that you are any different when there are five corporate bigwigs sweating in Tihar for exactly the same reason? So stop all that whining because the magnitude of your crime overrides all your emotional arguments. You should be ashamed – where was your womanhood when you were looting people of crores of rupees. Like Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha rightfully said, "In politics, you cannot expect any concession to be shown because you are a woman. Similarly, where criminal aspects are concerned you cannot expect leniency because you are a woman." I bet Jaya still hasn't forgotten the way Karunanidhi spared no efforts to send her to jail for two weeks in December 1996.
Oh the joys of singledom

Bipasha is suddenly rediscovering the joys of being single. After her break up with John Abraham, she is enjoying some good male attention without any guilt or strings attached. But most of all, the lovely Bengali lass wants to have a Khan in her life. "Right now, the only thing that Bips wants is an opportunity to work with any Khan in the industry and for this Bipasaha is ready to go to any length." But it may take a long time for her to get her wish. This is because her stock is a bit down in the Indian film industry as none of her films have been a hit. Also, the Khans, riding the crest of success, are too preoccupied with their current obsession – themselves. So instead of pining, she should try and get over her Khan obsession.
Aishwarya set to change Bollywood rules

It is a well known fact that Bollywood's male actors demand and get a share of profits from films. And now it seems Aishwarya Rai is all set to do just that. The buzz is that Ash has slashed her remuneration price and has instead demanded a share in the profit of her upcoming film Heroine. The film, which has Ash and Arjun Rampal in the lead, is being made on a limited budget of Rs 18 crore. Therefore, the two have slashed their fee and instead would be sharing the profits of the film so confident are they of Heroine's prospects at the box office. A very smart move indeed!
Bollywood's new bindaas babe sheds clothes

While others are shedding tears for the fast disappearing tiger population in India, Kavita Radheshyam, Bollywood's new bindaas babe, has decided to shed her clothes. Kavita, who is making a debut in Faisal Saif's Paanch Ghante Mein Paanch Crore, did a no-holds barred photoshoot to show her love for the Big Cats. She said, "I have always loved animals. I can't bear to see any living creature abused. Someone sent me a video of 300-400 villagers pouring petrol on a caged leopard and burning it alive. That is when I knew I couldn't be a mute spectator to such barbarism. Going naked seemed the best way to draw attention to the plight of animals in India. Is it the love of tigers or desperate publicity to get more roles? We wonder.
Miss India dazzles at Cannes

Miss India Kanishtha Dhankar made heads turn when she walked the red carpet with designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee at Cannes.
Forget the Aishwaryas, the Sonams and the most-hyped Frieda Pinto, it was the new Miss India Kanishtha Dhankar who dazzled Cannes. Looking gorgeous in a Sabyasachi Saree, Kanishtha dazzled in a regal Egyptian- Rajput look at the Chivas party in Cannes. Adding a traditional Indian hue to Cannes, she flaunted a stunning ensemble by Sabyasachi with zari work in gold, with an outstanding voile dupatta in nude shade. She completed her traditional look with dozens of gold and black bangles and a mang tika. She is the first reigning Miss India to make an appearance at Cannes. She is also preparing for her Miss World pageant. We wish Ash, Sonam and Frieda should have worn dresses by Indian designers instead of trying to "fit in" as Europeans, which unfortunately they can never be. And a word for Ms. Ash. Please do away with that boring, smug smile and the half turn wave at the paparazzi. It's so boring and so overdone. And for heaven's sake lose some blubber as you have begun to look like a giant stranded seal.
