Sneak Preview:
Singh Is Kinng

After many successful films including Waqt, Namastey London, No Entry and Welcome, producer Vipul Shah and director Anees Bazmee are back again, this time with a romantic comedy titled Singh Is Kinng. The film features Akshay Kumar as a Sardar Ji and also stars Katrina Kaif, Sonu Sood, Javed Jaffrey, Om Puri, Kirron Kher, Neha Dhupia, Yashpal Sharma, Manoj Pahwa, Kamal Chopra and Sudhanshu Pande.

So what is this 135-minute-long film about? According to Tanuj Garg of Studio 18, this eagerly anticipated romantic comedy “revolves around a gang of crooks transformed by a good man and his selfless love for a pretty girl…”

Sonu Sood, recently seen in Jodhaa Akbar, portrays the role of Lakhan Singh aka Lucky who is king of the Australian underworld. Javed Jaffrey, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa, Yashpal Sharma, Kamal Chopra and Sudhanshu Pande portray the role of his associates.

Akshay Kumar takes on the role of Happy Singh, who happens to be from the same village in Punjab where Lucky was born. The villagers, fed up of Happy Singh’s nobility and antics send him on a journey to bring Lucky back home, as Lucky’s misdeeds are ruining their image in Australia. Out goes Happy Singh, accompanied by the not so happy Tony Singh (Om Puri), on the mission set forth by the villagers.

Happy Singh’s adventure has many interesting twists and turns, including his meeting with Sonia (Katrina Kaif) whom he falls in love with, and his encounter with an elderly lady (Kirron Kher) who helps him meet Lucky.

One of the most interesting developments in the story is when Happy Singh fights off those wishing to kill Lucky—Lucky ends up in the hospital paralyzed, and Happy is expected to take on Lucky’s role of “kinng.”

However, as Tanuj reveals, “the series of chaos, shocks and comic misunderstandings that ensue eventually result in redemption and an accidental wedding!”

Singh Is Kinng has been shot in Punjab, Australia and Egypt. The music score is by Pritam (let’s hope that this time there are no more classic Pritam “lifts”). The film even features a rap by Snoop Dogg Looks like the king of comedy, Akshay Kumar, is ready to entertain us all with Singh Is Kinng, releasing worldwide on August 8!
